Dr. Bill Parks started his orthodontic practice in 1976 with one small office in the Denbigh area of Newport News. Today, Parks Orthodontics is located in Yorktown, VA in a modern space with several fun twists. It is owned by Dr. Parks’ daughter Dr. Meredith Parks, lead orthodontist. Dr. Meredith Parks' sister, Allison Parks Hale, is the Chief Operations Officer.
“The office in Denbigh will always be remembered as a fun place with a game room, a giant fish tank, and a menagerie of pets, including our longtime mascot, Sunny the parrot,” says Allison Parks Hale. “My dad even allowed his patients to write on the ceiling to celebrate the day their braces were removed.”
Susan Harris, retired TowneBank Peninsula President said, “Parks Orthodontics has been a wonderful TowneBank partner since 1999. We’ve helped them with practice acquisitions and modernization projects for their new location.” In 2014, Meredith and Allison decided to consolidate their practices into a larger, more modern space in Yorktown. “Thanks to TowneBank, we were able to secure a property and then completely renovate it to become the practice of my father’s dreams,” Allison says. By 2017, all the offices consolidated into the Yorktown location.
“Not only have we helped Meredith and Allison with their practice, we also assisted Meredith’s husband, Dr. John ‘Randy’ Owen, with a dental practice acquisition loan. It’s really a family affair,” said Susan Harris. “I enjoy my relationship with the Parks family, especially helping them to achieve their business goals but, to me, it is more than banking, it has really become a very special friendship.”

Dr. Bill Parks began his practice in 1976 in a small office in the Denbigh are of Newport News, VA, with his wife, Sandy, as his only assistant. His daughter, Dr. Meredith Parks joined the practice in 2006 and in 2017 she was awarded ‘Top Dentist’ in Orthodontics in Coastal Virginia Magazine and has even been named ‘Best Orthodontist’ in the area by the Daily Press "Choice Awards".
“My favorite part about this job is the smiles I get to create and the fun atmosphere I get to create them in.” says Meredith.
Parks Orthodontics offers state-of-the-art technology including digital imaging, Invisalign®, and traditional braces. Their office features a kids’ play area and game room, an internet café with free Wi-Fi, and even pets, including parrots.
Today, Meredith and Allison run the practice along with their mom, who serves as business manager, and a dozen other staff who are like family. “We are very lucky that our dad left behind a tremendous legacy for us to maintain. We are honored and delighted to come to work every day,” Allison says.
