We are pleased to provide two ways to protect your TowneBank Mastercard® Debit Card.

EMV Chip Technology
TowneBank Mastercard® Debit Cards feature an embedded chip to improve the security of your purchases at chip-activated terminals.
  • Enhance your fraud protection with chip technology. This tiny chip helps protect you from fraud by creating a one-time use code for each transaction. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and provides an extra level of protection for your debit card transactions.
  • Use with ease. At a chip-activated terminal, simply insert your card and follow the prompts. At some terminals, you will swipe your card like you do today. You can also continue to use your card as you did before for online payments, telephone payments and at ATMs.
  • Enjoy global acceptance. Chip-activated terminals are already available at many U.S. retailers, with more merchants to come. Those who travel outside of the U.S. may have seen these terminals already. You can enjoy secure payments worldwide - wherever Mastercard® Debit Cards are accepted.
Mastercard® SecureCode
MasterCard SecureCode provides an added level of security for Internet purchases when using your TowneBank Debit Card.  This service is available only at participating MasterCard SecureCode online merchants.

To begin, simply register your TowneBank debit card with MasterCard SecureCode. During registration you will be asked to create a security code separate from your PIN. This code must be 6-10 characters long, contain a number (0-9), have no spaces and include both upper and lower case letters.  Once your card is registered, the SecureCode will be required for all purchases at participating online merchants. International Travel

Call your hometown banker before you travel internationally to avoid service interruption.

For your security, there are several countries where there is a high level of attempted fraudulent ATM/Debit Card activity. In accordance with Master Card recommendations, transactions have been restricted in some countries in order to protect our members. This is why it's important for you to contact your hometown banker before you travel internationally.

You may be able to use travelers checks* or obtain foreign currency* before you travel. A hometown banker would be happy to assist you with either option.
