Beginning Monday, April 17, Farmers Bank locations will open under the TowneBank name. As we shared in January, there are three Farmers locations, Chesapeake, Harbour View, and Pungo, in proximity to existing TowneBank locations that will move operations to nearby TowneBank offices. With 49 total locations, you may handle your transactions at any TowneBank office.

  • Farmers Bank customers who wish to use our 24-hour telephone banking system to get updated balance information will need to enroll in our Towne24 VRU system. You can follow these steps: 
    1. Call 833-869-6324
    2. From the menu options, choose either 'Deposit Account Information' or 'Loan Account Information' and enter the information requested
    3. Press option 2, to set up your VRU access number
    4. Follow the prompts to validate your identity 
    5. Set up your 8-digit VRU Access Number as well as a 4-digit PIN. Please keep in mind, this PIN is for your Towne24 VRU, not your ATM or debit card. 
  • At Farmers Bank branches that will become TowneBank locations on April 17, ATMs will experience at least one day where the ATM may be offline while it is updated to a TowneBank ATM during the week of April 10. The Courtland location will experience a longer period where it is offline while it is rebuilt.

    For your convenience, all TowneBank ATMs are available to Farmers Bank customers surcharge-free. If you incur ATM fees from other institutions while ATMs are undergoing maintenance, we are happy to refund those fees.
  • Your automatic drafts will continue without interruption. In the months following your transition to TowneBank, we do ask that you review your account activity to ensure that all payments occur as anticipated. Here are some important tips: 
    • Provide the TowneBank routing number, 015408949, and any change to your account number, to ensure uninterrupted payment activity. 
    • Please note that on the business day prior to a weekend or holiday, automated drafts post earlier in the day. 
  • Please look for your final Farmers Bank checking and/or money market statement in April. Transactions on these statements will include items processed through Friday, April 14, 2023, and interest paid through Sunday, April 16, 2023. 

    Going forward, your new statement will print at approximately the same timeframe as your previous Farmers Bank cycle date. End-of-month statements will continue to print at the end of the month as usual. 

    On your final statement from Farmers Bank and your initial statement from TowneBank, there will be no monthly maintenance fees assessed to your account. 

    We are pleased to inform you that check images are included in all statements by default, at no charge. Images appear at the back of the statements, three (3) across, seven (7) down on a page.

  • Deposited funds (cash, check, electronic credits, etc.) are reflected in the accountholder's available balance based on the type of deposit and how the deposit is made. For details about deposits, please review our Deposit Cut Off Times here

  • The Farmers Bank Rewards program will not carry over to TowneBank, but you can continue to redeem your points for gift cards until April 14 at FarmersBankVARewards.com.  
  • Your safe deposit box will continue to be available for entry during normal business hours. 
  • If you receive incoming wire transfers, please notify your originator of the following information, effective April 17, 2023. (Please note this information applies to wires initiated within the United States. If you receive international wires, please consult your relationship banker for assistance.)

    Wire transfer activity appears in online banking. Upon request, TowneBank offers complimentary wire advices to the email address on file as confirmation that a wire has been sent or received.

  • TowneBank may report information about consumer loans to credit bureaus, beginning as early as June 2023. These records will be reflected under the TowneBank name. As always, you can visit annualcreditreport.com to obtain a free copy of your credit report. 
  • Yes! TowneBank offers overdraft protection, although some of the details may be different than what you were used to at Farmers Bank. Please review our detailed page about overdraft protection changes here

  • Great news! All active personal and business checking, money market, and savings account numbers will remain unchanged. A small number of active CD/IRA account numbers will change. Those new numbers will be provided on your maturity notices. For your convenience, we will have the ability to reference your former account number at any time.
  • You may continue to use your Farmers Bank Debit Card through Sunday, April 16. You should be able to make ATM withdrawals and Debit Card purchases as normal; however, over the weekend of April 14-16, balance information at the ATMs may not be available. 

    In the two weeks prior to April 14, you should receive your NEW TowneBank Debit Card. Please wait to activate and use your new card until Monday, April 17. Your new TowneBank Debit Card will have the same PIN (personal identification number) as the card it is replacing. If you need a PIN reminder for any account, please contact your banker or Towne Member Care at 844-638-6714 on or after April 17.
  • You may continue using your Farmers Bank checks, deposit tickets, and money market documents through December 31,2023. Please know that your existing Farmers checks will continue to be accepted any place you do business.

    For your convenience, we will provide a complimentary order of personal checks and offer up to $125 for your first order of business checks with the TowneBank routing number and your account number. Ask your banker for details.
  • Yes, you will begin to log into online banking systems at TowneBank beginning on April 17, 2023. We will share information about what to expect by email prior to that date.
  • When your personal certificate nears maturity, you will receive a renewal notice from the bank that includes your TowneBank account number. Most account numbers will not change. Whenever necessary, we can reference all former Farmers account numbers.
