Studio Displays does more than create memorable spaces. The woman-owned, Charlotte-based company brings them to life, combining imagination, craftsmanship and technical expertise to create bold, purposeful environments that invite people to engage, explore and connect.
From the first idea through final installation, Studio Displays manages every detail needed to transform a client’s vision into a tangible experience. As the largest custom trade show and museum exhibit house between Atlanta and Washington, D.C., the company is a full-service, in-house design and fabrication partner. Its portfolio reflects innovation and an unmistakable “cool factor” that makes interaction feel effortless.
Frank Boerjan, CEO, Lori Pope, owner, and Tom Pope, founder, bring their extensive experience to Studio Displays in Charlotte.
When the pandemic hit everyone, owner Lori Pope used the pause to think strategically about the company’s future. TowneBank became a valuable partner in helping Studio Displays prepare for its next chapter.
The TowneBank Story
“TowneBank is an incredible resource,” Lori says. “I don’t think we would be able to get where we are without that real banking relationship. It feels like they care. They’re genuine. They have the family aspect that we pride ourselves on, too. They have that rooted approach of just taking care of people.”
Located north of Charlotte, Mountain Island Educational State Forest was developed by the NC Forest Service to serve as a living classroom.
With that support, Studio Displays has continued creating distinctive experiences for clients throughout North Carolina and beyond. Recent projects include the renovated Historic Halifax Visitor Center, an interactive kiosk highlighting North Carolina history inside the Legislative Building in Raleigh and a mobile museum created for the Carolina Panthers, but also the 100+ trade show booths. The team’s commitment to craftsmanship can be seen in the smallest details. When one project required 60 football helmets, Studio Displays incorporated 3D-printed elements into the silicone molds—right down to the earholes.
Studio Displays creates unique experiences for sites like the Historic Halifax Visitor Center and the Anaheim Ducks facility, as well as dynamic exhibits for trade shows.
That inventive spirit traces back to founder Tom Pope, a visionary artist with an engineer’s mind. After earning a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he began his career at an advertising agency—long before computers and vector files became standard creative tools. Tom saw every space as a blank canvas and sought creative challenges.
Serving Others. Enriching Lives.
Tom and his wife, Terry, founded Studio Displays in 1980. Lori credits her mother with managing the financial side of the business while raising three children. The family purchased its first building in the1990s and expanded beyond trade shows and seasonal displays into museums, visitor experiences and corporate interiors.
Studio Displays is headquartered in Indian Land, South Carolina, just across the NC/SC state line. The company specializes in trade show displays, museum exhibits, and custom event products.
Today, CEO Frank Boerjan, who joined the company in summer 2025, will leverage his extensive experience to guide Studio Displays into its next chapter. A native of the Netherlands with roots for over 25 years in the United States, he will play an important role in expanding its domestic and global client base.
