Myers & Chapman
Creating and Building Opportunities

Marcus Rabun has spent nearly two decades building with Myers & Chapman. The buildings came first. The leadership came later. Marcus joined the commercial construction company in 2007 as a superintendent after working in residential construction. Throughout the years, he advanced through project management and operations leadership, eventually becoming CEO through a carefully planned succession that enabled him and his partners to purchase the company.
Looking back, he says the most important lesson wasn’t how to build a better project. It was understanding why he wanted to lead a company in the first place. “I realized this platform could create opportunities for other people. That’s what the company has always been about.”
The Charlotte Regional Realtors Association headquarters is a 58,000-square-foot, LEED certified building with an open-air terrace that features views of Uptown Charlotte.
Founded more than 70 years ago, Myers & Chapman has grown into one of the Southeast’s most respected commercial contractors, serving clients across manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, education, municipal, retail, and community markets.
From design-build projects to construction management and virtual design services, the company has earned a reputation for tackling complex projects while building long-term relationships along the way.
For Marcus, those relationships remain the foundation of the business. “Our tagline is, ‘Your Building Partner,’” he says. “We’re not interested in being a one-and-done contractor.”

Instead, Myers & Chapman works to become a trusted partner by solving problems, communicating openly, and delivering value long after a project is complete. That approach has resulted in lasting relationships with clients who become repeat customers.
The same philosophy shapes the company’s culture. Rather than focusing first on résumés and technical experience, Myers & Chapman looks for people who fit its values. “We hire for culture first,” Marcus says. “We can teach a lot of the technical side. If someone fits our culture, they’re going to thrive.”

That investment extends well beyond the office and jobsite. Employees receive volunteer time each month to support causes important to them, while the company encourages leaders to become involved throughout their communities.
Whether supporting Habitat for Humanity, enhancing schools, or finding ways to improve the communities where projects are built, Marcus believes construction leaves a lasting impact long after the ribbon is cut. “We’re not just building buildings. We’re supporting the communities where we live.”
Leading through the COVID-19 pandemic reinforced another lesson. Marcus helped establish the Charlotte Commercial Construction Coalition, bringing together contractors who normally competed with one another to solve shared challenges.
The new U.S. headquarters for LESER, a safety valve manufacturer based in Germany, is a 55,000-square-foot building on an 11 acre site in Charlotte.
Serving Others. Enriching Lives.
“It taught me to be bold,” he says. “Everybody was thinking the same thing. Somebody just had to take the first step.”
That willingness to build relationships also led Myers & Chapman to TowneBank. After years of working with members of the TowneBank team, Marcus moved both the company’s banking relationship and his personal banking because he found that the people, including senior vice president and commercial banker John Graham, invested time in understanding his business rather than simply selling products.
“I don’t need you to sell me things I don’t need,” he says. “I need you to understand my business and help me solve problems.”
The Publix at Arboretum Park opened in 2025. This 50,021-square-foot store is located in south Charlotte.
For a company that has spent more than seven decades constructing schools, manufacturing facilities, healthcare buildings, and community spaces, that way of thinking feels fitting. Myers & Chapman isn’t simply in the construction business. Myers & Chapman is in the business of building opportunities, one project, one relationship, and one community at a time.
