Sail250 Coming to Virginia in June!

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. Many celebrations are planned throughout the year to mark this important event. One of the most exciting is taking place in our region. A fleet of the world’s most magnificent tall ships and military ships will sail into the port of Virginia as part of Sail250. Virginia is among an elite group of U.S. ports selected to host Sail250, including New Orleans, Baltimore, New York, and Boston. 

From June 12-23, 10,000 officers, cadets, and crews of more than 60 ships from 20 nations will visit the Chesapeake Bay region. Norfolk is a host city with the local celebration starting on June 19. Other affiliate ports include Alexandria, Cape Charles, Chesapeake, Hampton Onancock, Portsmouth, Richmond, Smithfield/Isle of Wight, Virginia Beach, and Yorktown.  Mark your calendar now to be part of a once-in-a-generation event to commemorate this significant milestone in our nation’s history.
