TowneBank is a longtime supporter of Day of Caring, an annual event hosted by the United Way that connects volunteers with organizations in need of support. With the help of volunteers, organizations can use funds and time typically allocated to these tasks, like cleaning, painting, organizing, and landscaping, in a more meaningful way.
In Hampton Roads, Towne family members visited a number of organizations including:
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation where they helped clean and organize. The Foundation helps foster understanding and awareness of our nation’s early history.
The Beach Food Pantry in the Outer Banks where they restocked shelves and worked in the outside garden. The Beach Food Pantry helps eliminate food insecurity for those who live and work in Dare County.
Children’s Harbor in Portsmouth was spruced up thanks to the TowneBank team who did landscaping in the sunny weather.
At the Beach Food Pantry in the Outer Banks the Towne Family pitched in to restock shelves and also helped out in the garden.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia where the group did minor repairs, landscaping, painting, cleaning, and organizing. Boys & Girls clubs provide a safe and inclusive place for local youth to learn and grow.
Children’s Harbor Portsmouth & Suffolk – two groups worked at the Children’s Harbor locations doing landscaping, interior and exterior cleaning, and organizing. Children’s Harbor provides access to quality early childhood care for children and their families regardless of socio-economic status.
Salvation Army H.O.P.E. Village in Norfolk where the volunteers did landscape and outside projects. H.O.P.E. Village is a transitional shelter for women and children and offers services including case management, counseling, and childcare.
Thank you to all our volunteer champions who organized projects and recruited volunteers in Virginia and North Carolina. We have received so much positive feedback about the amazing impact our volunteer groups made at nonprofits that are serving the needs of our communities every day. We appreciate everyone who took their time to volunteer for the annual Day of Caring.
Landscaping was at the top of the list for projects at the Children’s Harbor in Suffolk.
The playground at Children’s Harbor in Suffolk got some TLC from the Towne Family.
