Commercial Real Estate is Booming in Chesterfield
SHARE
For Kevin Specter, associate broker at Specter Properties Inc, commercial real estate is in his blood. His father, Mark Specter, started Specter Properties in 1988 and his grandfather I. Roland Specter, was a Class A contractor for 62 years.
TowneBank helped sponsor the Old Hundred youth basketball team that Kevin coaches.
“At Longwood University, I told my advisor that I wanted to do anything but commercial real estate because I was trying to branch out on my own,” Kevin says with a smile. “I graduated with a degree in business with a concentration in real estate. I couldn’t get away from it.”
He joined Specter Properties in 2011 after graduation, and in 2016, he was instrumental in relocating the business from Prince George, Virginia, to Chesterfield. Specter Properties deals with all aspects of commercial real estate, including sales and leasing of office, retail, industrial, and land transactions.

Kevin enjoys his work. “I like the relationships I’ve built, and it almost feels like I don’t work. I never wanted a job where you sit at a desk all day. For me, every day is different and I get to learn something new.”
When he’s not selling real estate, Kevin enjoys making a difference in youth athletics. “Giving back through coaching youth is one of the most meaningful parts of my life,” he says. “My focus extends well beyond teaching the game. My goal is to help young athletes build confidence, develop discipline, embrace accountability, and understand the value of teamwork, perseverance, and respect.”

He currently serves as head coach of the Old Hundred 9U tackle football team and recently led his youth basketball team to the Final Four in a tournament featuring 41 teams last season. TowneBank was honored to sponsor the team. “This was a tremendous accomplishment that reflected the players' hard work, dedication, and commitment to one another. Watching young athletes grow in both skill and character throughout the season is one of the most rewarding aspects of coaching.”

Kevin also coaches with Special Olympics. “Working with these incredible athletes has been a truly humbling experience and has reinforced the importance of inclusion, encouragement, and celebrating every achievement. The passion, determination, and joy they bring to competition are inspiring and serve as a reminder of what sports are truly about.”
Four years ago, Kevin was asked to serve on the TowneBank Chesterfield Board. “It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I've had the privilege of serving alongside an outstanding group of business and community leaders who are deeply committed to making a positive impact in Chesterfield. When I joined the board at age 36, I was the youngest member. While I wasn't sure what to expect, I was immediately welcomed with encouragement, respect, and a genuine willingness to share knowledge and experience. One of my favorite memories was meeting TowneBank founder Bob Aston. With his trademark sense of humor, he thanked me for helping lower the board's average age. It was a lighthearted comment, but it immediately made me feel welcome and reinforced the family-oriented culture that makes TowneBank so special.”
The TowneBank Story
“One of the greatest benefits of serving on the board has been the relationships I've built with fellow board members,” Kevin continues. “Their leadership, integrity, and commitment to serving others have challenged me to become a better leader in both my business and personal life. I also appreciate TowneBank's unique culture of caring. The bank's commitment to putting people first and investing in our local communities aligns closely with my own values of service and community involvement.”
Kevin, Courtney, Ethan, and Asher enjoy traveling and sharing outdoor time together.
