Dear Friends,
There is a saying, “The future is full of endless possibilities: all you have to do is work hard and believe in them.”
Throughout the years, our Towne family has been blessed in many ways as we have chased our dream to build a great community asset built on a foundation of caring and serving others.
Our blessings have extended from our founding shareholders who invested in the dream, to the extraordinary teammates who have come aboard to join us in chasing the dream, the thousands who chose to join our Towne family as members, and the loyal and dedicated support we have received from the communities we serve.
Each day, we are thankful and grateful for all of the people who have lifted us up and given us the opportunity to be successful in our continuing journey to seek opportunities that will enable us to shape our company and better serve our communities.
Movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn coined the phrase, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” Here at Towne, that personifies our teammates whose hard work allows us to take advantage of opportunities when they arise. I once heard someone say, “Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you will miss them.” I am proud to say our Towne teammates are always dedicated to ensuring we never miss a “sunrise” to take our company forward.
Over the past year, we have been presented with amazing opportunities to partner with three highly regarded community banks that will enable us to strategically move our company forward, including the fast growing Interstate 85 corridor from Richmond, Virginia through Raleigh and the Research Triangle, the Triad region including Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem, the Greater Charlotte region, and Greenville and the upstate region of South Carolina. In addition, we’ll add to our presence along the eastern side of North Carolina and South Carolina in Morehead City, Greenville, Fayetteville, Wilmington, and Charleston.
While these new additions to our Towne family will increase our assets by approximately $4.5 billion, the real value comes in the extraordinary talent that will join our team.
Jay Hendricks, former CEO of Village Bank, and his team in Richmond, are some of the finest people you could ever want as teammates.
Rob Shuford, CEO of Old Point National Bank including Old Point Trust and Financial Services, is the third-generation leader hailing from the legendary Shuford banking family in Hampton, Virginia. Rob brings with him a talented team of bankers and trust professionals who will enhance our position in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia.
Steve Jones, CEO of Dogwood State Bank, brings with him an extraordinary group of bankers who will join our Towne team to take us to the next level in both North and South Carolina.
To quote Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Our goal of building our bank for the next generation is made possible by your belief in our dream to bring Main Street banking to the communities we serve by aspiring to improve the quality of life in each and every community we are privileged to serve.
Most sincerely,
G. Robert Aston Jr.
