Q: What does it mean to serve as the president of Peninsula and Williamsburg region for TowneBank?

A: It is truly an honor to serve as the president of the Peninsula and Williamsburg region. Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside some of the best financial professionals in the region.  Beyond that, TowneBank has an amazing reputation for being a community resource, and as a servant leader, it is a great point of pride to help continue that legacy.

Q: How does TowneBank help residents and businesses on the Peninsula and Williamsburg?

A: We carry out the ideal of serving others and enriching lives every single day. We work hard to build relationships with individuals, their families, and their businesses. We understand their dreams and partner with them to make that vision a reality.

Q: What differentiates TowneBank from other banks?

A: We are a bank for the community. We don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk. We are philanthropic in the way we engage the community, both through volunteer efforts and financial support. In addition, I’ve seen us weather storms with members that I know other banks would not have. When we commit to being a partner, we are always there– through tough times and success.

Q: If someone were debating between banking at TowneBank and another bank, why should they choose TowneBank?

A: I have never worked with a group of professionals and executives that understands the local market the way we do at TowneBank. Our team understands the dynamics and unique circumstances of each region and can foresee great opportunities. Our leadership lives in Hampton Roads and has a personal stake in seeing the region thrive. That local understanding is so important for our members.

Q: Describe a time when you helped a member out of a difficult situation or helped to solve a problem for them.

A: One of our members had a check stolen from their mailbox and deposited into a fraudulent account, which was devastating to their small business. We were able to use our resources to find a solution, but most importantly, we stood by the member through the entire ordeal to make sure they knew we were there to help. In fact, I met with them personally to provide reassurance and guidance.

Q: What is your favorite thing about what you do?

A: I enjoy helping others thrive and succeed – whether it's people on our team growing in their career, our members meeting milestones and finding success, or our non-profit partners thriving.

Q: What are three traits that define TowneBank?

A: Engaged. Committed. Resourceful. We are truly a community treasure.

Q: Name something you’ve learned from one of your members.

A: I’ve learned that communication is not one size fits all. Everyone communicates differently, and understanding those differences is key in any relationship.

Q: Where do you see changes coming in the Peninsula/Williamsburg region in the next 2-3 years?

A: There is a changing of the guard happening in our region with the evolution of new leadership in the business community, at the two major universities, and within community organizations. This gives way for fresh ideas, new partnerships, and huge opportunities for the region.
